Champagne René Schloesser Storie
Mr René Schloesser is the founder of the famous French Champagne House « TRIBAUT-SCHLOESSER ».
He was born in 1902 in Luxembourg, and arrived in Champagne with his parents, as a teenager, to start as an agricultural worker on Champagne lands, nearby Reims.
When he met, and then get married in 1927 to Miss Lucie COUTELAS, he started to buy his first Romery vineyards (about one single hectare at this time), to work on his own land and sell the grapes to some Epernay’s big negotiants.
But in 1929, the economic crisis occurs; negotiants who were struggling, almost stopped buying any grappes to independent Champagne winegrowers.
Then, facing this new situation, Mr René Schloesser decided to produce its own first Champagne bottles (about 1000 unit at this stage) in order to live…
He started to sell them only through a part of the family living in Paris.
For this, he did the deliveries by himself on the luggage rack of his bike from his cellar to the nearest train station of Damery, for the Champagne cases after to travel through railway to Paris…
This was the start of a long and progressive story. With the money earned, he bought some new lands, and his family followed this wonderful job. His daughter Suzanne then get married to Mr Tribaut, and they both created an other brand Champagne Tribaut-Schloesser.
Both brands are now taken in hands by the grand grand sons of René Schloesser, the two brothers: Sebastien and Valentin Tribaut, who know works on 25 hectares owned by the family, but also buy some grappes to some friends arounds to be able to produce 350’000 bottles of great Champagne very year, sold mostly at export, on more than 30 countries around the World.
And today, the brand Champagne René Schloesser - second mark of the house Tribaut-Schloesser - has been renewed and developed in order to offer quality Champagnes and accompany you in the most festive moments of life.
